Merendero El Prado de la Fuente

En plena N-110 al poco de salir de Cabezuela en dirección a Jerte, en el km 370,400 encontramos una fresca isla de sombras de alisos con merenderos y parque infantil para disfrutar de un descanso y recuperar energía.

Esta área de recreo, enclavada en una zona con abundante vegetación y atravesada por un pequeño arroyo, nos brinda la posibilidad de descansar durante el viaje o el paseo desde la localidad.

Un lugar formado por árboles caducifolios muy frondosos que requieren humedad constante y nos proporcionan sombra la mayor parte del año. Este pequeño bosquete está formado por alisos (Alnus lusitánica), fresnos (Fraxinus angustifolia), sauces (Salix sp.), álamos (Populus sp.), nos refrescan en verano y albergan una gran biodiversidad de aves como oropéndolas (Oriolus oriolus), mirlos (Turdus merula), trepador azul (Sitta europea), etc. También, podemos encontrar reptiles como el lagarto verdinegro (Lacerta chreiberi),la culebra viperina (Natrix maura) y otros animales.

En el Valle del Jerte confluyen dos redes de espacios protegidos, por un lado, la Red Natura 2000 (Red Europea), con el LIC “río Jerte y Alagón” y el LIC “Sierra de Gredos y Valle del Jerte”. Por otro lado, la Red de Espacios Naturales de Extremadura (RENPEX), con la Reserva Natural Garganta de los Infiernos y diferentes Árboles Singulares.

RECREATIONAL AREA "EL PRADO DE LA FUENTE"

This recreational area nestled in a zone with abundant vegetation and with a small stream crossing by, gives us the opportunity to rest along the journey or the walk from the village.

A place made up of very lush deciduous trees that require constant humidity and provide us with shade most of the year. This little grove is made up of alder trees (Alnus lusitanica), ash trees (Fraxinus angustifolia), willow trees (Salix sp.) and cottonwood trees (Populus sp.) that help us cool us off in the summer. They are home to a large biodiversity of birds such as Eurasian golden oriole (Oriolus oriolus), blackbirds (Turdus merula), Eurasian nuthatch (Sitta europaea) etc. We can also find reptiles like the Iberian emerald lizard (Lacerta schreiberi) the Viperine snake (Natrix maura) and other animals.

In the Valle del Jerte two networks of protected spaces overlap, on one side la Red Natura 2000 (European network), with two spaces mainly represented: SIC (site of community importance) “río Jerte y Alagón” and (site of community importance)  “Sierra de Gredos y Valle del Jerte”. On the other side, the network of natural spaces of Extremadura (RENPEX), with the Nature Reserve Garganta de los infiernos and different veteran Trees.
